Formerly in the Tower Collection, XV.231. Transferred to the British Museum, 1914 and returned to the Tower, 1954.

Physical Description

The blade is slightly curved, single edged becoming double edged towards the tip, with two shallow fullers. The tip of the blade is broken.The langets are short terminating in point shaped finial. The quillons are wide. The pommel is a flat disc with large dome terminating in a point. The hilt is decorated all over with a floral diaper in gold koftgari. The scabbard is wood covered in green fabric, with raised ridge near the top. The chape is metal.


Dimensions: The length of the blade is 785 mm. The overall length of the sword is 907 mm. The length of the scabbard is 830 mm. _ Weight: The weight of the sword is 0.800 kg. The weight of the sword and scabbard is 0.910 kg. _

Stamped on each side with three stars and the letters N (reversed) and S.
