Physical Description

Of a single iron plate. The upper part is flat, angling downwards towards the nose which is bevelled inwards on either side. There is a central raised rib that terminates at the top in a rectangular shape. On either side are adorsed foliate S scrolls. Between the cut-outs for the ears is a raised triangle. There are small silver studs scattered over the whole surface. Around the edge are holes for mail and above the rectangular raised portion are holes for a transverse stop-rib, now missing.
