Physical Description

The hilt is a tapering cylinder of dark lapis lazuli that widens towards the top and has a narrow flat on the cutting edge side. It is fitted into a narrow collar of metal decorated with small cabouchon turquoises. There is a silver bolster below which the blade has a few piercings. The blade proper shows that it is of wootz steel. The scabbard is of wood with a silver chape and locket, the space between being covered with red velvet. There is a panel on each face, joining the chape and locket, covered with turquoise beads in columns.

Dimensions: The length of the blade is 212 mm, the overall length of the knife being 343 mm and the length of the scabbard being 292 mm. Weight: The weight of the knife is 0.184 kg, that of the scabbard being 0.088 kg.
