Physical Description

The long tubular shaft is divided into three facetted sections separated by sections with spiral flutes. The facetted regions are decorated with traces of brass inlay framed with silver. The base terminates in a moulded knob. At the top the shaft terminates in mouldings and a ring to which are secured two chains with oval links. One chain has 12 links the other 10. Each ball has a different arrangement of spikes. That attached to the longer chain has five equatorial spikes and another from the base opposite the chain. The other has 13 spikes in three bands and one opposite the chain. No spikes are missing.

Dimensions: The length of the shaft is 865 mm, each ball being about 55 mm diameter with 33 mm spikes. Weight: The weight of the weapon is 1.915 kg.
