Physical Description

With a raised neck and narrow flange at the waist. The neck, arm and flange edges are inwardly turned. At either shoulder is a restored shoulder strap; the rearmost five plates at the right, and the rearmost at the left are original. At either side of the waist is a restored waist strap with the original buckle.


Fragments of the original waist and shoulder straps survive. There are two central pierced holes for mounting, and an extra hole at the right side edge. The straps were restored in February 1985. Under the rearmost plate of the right strap is a restored plate showing the width of the original strap. The remaining plates are original but associated.

Inscriptions and Marks

At the neck is stamped a faint AT for the maker. Inside is incised VI at the waist, and painted 63 in orange.
