Purchased 15 November 1985. From the Armoury at Littlecote House, ap.65.

Physical Description

With a raised neck and narrow flange at the waist. The neck, arm and flange edges are inwardly turned. At either shoulder is a restored shoulder strap with six plates. At either side of the waist is a restored waist strap and buckle. At either shoulder is riveted an iron bracket for mounting the cuirass. The backplate is pierced at the centre for mounting. Fragments of the shoulder straps and replacement waist straps with a brass buckle survive. At Littlecote, the right shoulder strap with six original plates and two plates of the left strap survived, but have been lost since. The straps were restored in February 1986.

Inscriptions and Marks

Inside, above the flange is incised XX and three triangular punch marks. Painted in orange is 34.

This bears the same marks and painted number as III.1995, and may well be a pair to it; they were certainly shown together from an early date.
