Physical Description

With a raised neck and medial keel terminating in a point at the waist, which dips down to the centre and has a narrow flange. The neck and arm edges are inwardly turned. At either arm is a mushroom headed stud for fastening the shoulder straps.

Inscriptions and Marks

Inside, above the flange at the right are six triangular punch marks and an incised X. Painted inside in orange, 47.

Notes

No definite pair has been found, but III.2080 is a reasonable fit, and similarly lacks a maker's mark, although it has different construction marks. The same construction mark appears on III.2019 (X and six wedges) which could be a pair. III.1983 also has the painted 47.
