Physical Description

With a raised neck and medial keel terminating in a point at the waist, which dips down to the centre and has a narrow flange. The arm and neck edges are inwardly turned. At either arm is a mushroom headed stud for fastening shoulder straps. At the right is a possible, very shallow proof mark.

Inscriptions and Marks

At the neck, a stamped pearled A for the maker, helmeted A for the Armourers' Company of London, and a cross of St. George for the Commonwealth. Low at the right, a large circular mark, inverted, including the letter A. Inside, painted 47 in orange.
