Physical Description

With a raised neck and medial keel terminating in a point at the waist, which dips down to the centre and has a narrow flange. The neck and arm edges are inwardly turned. At either side of the chest is a mushroom headed stud for fastening the shoulder straps. The arm edges are bordered with six rivets, the flange with eleven, which help secure the inner plate. Beneath each stud is a flush rivet filling the hole for a previous stud. There is a proof mark, almost flat, at the right centre. The breastplate is of duplex construction, the layers folded at the sides and shoulders. The exterior is russet and filed. Mean microhardness inner 311 Hv, outer 166 Hv.
