Physical Description

The lock is of type 5 design with a dog. It is held in place by 3 sidenails, the centre of which carries a ring. The stock is of the type especially associated with the Littlecote collection. There is a restored wooden-tipped ramrod and a brass butt-plate covering the upper 2 in. of the sole and extending 2 1/4 in. along the comb. There has been some resin patching of the butt. The right side of the butt has been carved with a dragon motif. The barrel is of round cross-section for its entire length and has a swamp muzzle. It is held in place by 2 pins. There is a notch backsight and there was a brass bead foresight but this has been filed flush. There are 2 incised lines around the barrel 1 5/8 in. from the muzzle and a deeply incised line 1/16 in. from the muzzle
