Physical Description

The lock is of type 5 design with a dog which might be a restoration. It is held in place by 3 sidenails of which the middle one carries a ring.


This carbine has been entirely restocked. There is a restored ramrod and no butt-plate. There is an octagonal brass washer around the middle sidenail.


The barrel has a round cross-section for its entire length with a swamp muzzle. It is held in place by 2 pins. There is an open V backsight and there was a brass bead foresight that has been filed off. There are a pair of incised lines around the barrel 1 1/2 in. from the muzzle. There is a single incised line 1/16 in. from the muzzle.
