Physical Description

The lock is of type 5 design with a dog. The sear nose is missing (broken off). There are three sidenails, the centre of which carries a ring. The stock is of the design particularly associated with the Littlecote collection. The right side of the butt carries a carved depiction of a dragon and the initials FP. The original ramrod survives with an iron tip, having a threaded hole held in by two ramrod pipes. There is a brass butt-plate that extends 1 7/8 in. from the heel and 2 1/4 in. along the comb. The barrel, of round cross-section for its entile length, has a swamp muzzle and is held in place by 2 pins. The sights consist of an open V backsight and a bead foresight. There is an incised line around the muzzle 1/16 in. from the edge
