Physical Description

The lock is of type 2 design, held in place by 3 sidenails


The shape of the stock is typical of mid 17th century holster pistols. There is a ramrod which may be original and a wooden-domed buttcap with an iron band. The fore-end band is a restoration


The barrel is of tapered octagonal cross-section, held in place by 2 pins

Inscriptions and Marks

The stock has AP marked on the left of the butt and an incised cross-legged W filled with red paint on the side flat. The top left flat of the barrel is marked with the London Gunmaker's Company view and proof marks. The bottom flat of the barrel bears an unidentified mark
