Physical Description

The lock is of type 5 design with a dog. It is held in place by 3 sidenails. The cock, dog, pan, tumbler and possible the sear have been restored. The sear pivot block has been repaired and is possibly a restoration.


The stock is of typical mid 17th century holster pistol design. There is a ramrod that may be original. The buttcap consists of an iron band and a wooden dome. The former may be original but the latter is a restoration. The stock has been extensively patched and repaired with wood and resin and the iron fore-end tip-band is a restoration.


The barrel is tapered and of octagonal cross-section for its entire length. The vent area is slightly recessed and the barrel is held in plce by 2 pins
