Physical Description

The lock is of type 1 design. It is held in place by 2 sidenails and there is a hole in the lockplate for a third. The stock has a club butt and a restored ramrod. The final 7 in. of the fore-end have been restored. The barrel has an octagonal breech which extends for 15 in. where there is a baluster. After this the barrel is round. There is a notch backsight and a bead foresight. The barrel is hael in place by 3 pins. The barrel was formerly on a matchlock as can be seen by the notch in the breech for a flashguard. There is an incised line around the upper half of the barrel 1/8 in from the muzzle
