Physical Description

The shield is small and circular, formed of rhinoceros hide, with a pronounced central boss to which the remainder of the shield rises through a series of ridges. The grip is retained by two brass pins which terminate providing a diamond-shaped decoration on the outside. The hide has been shaped then turned in a lathe after drying. On the inside, the original surface of the skin is visible.
