Physical Description

General Officers scimitar. Gilt brass guard and hilt mounts. Ecusson bears a crossed sword and baton, with various foliate and scrollwork elements. Ivory grips with gilt brass floral-headed rivets and gilt brass bushed hole for sword knot. Blade is etched with Wilkinson inscription under Prince of Wales feathers (see marks), followed by scrollwork, wreaths and the baton crossed over a scimitar. All surmounted by crown over monogram of VR. Other side of blade bears an empty proof mark in a 6 pointed star. Royal Coat of Arms above. As with other side of blade, decoration includes laurel wreaths, a baton over scimitar, and the royal monogram of VR. Leather washer beneath cross piece. Nickel-plated scabbard with 2 loose suspension rings, off of 2 bands. Sword knot of gold bullion with red wool with acorn.
