This spur belongs to a group of similar design usually cast in silver or brass and often bearing inscriptions of a Romantic nature. They appear to be of English make and intended for sale in South America as is shown by the leather lining to the heel band of the present example which is a Chilean feature. Peruvian, according to M Pierre Drugmand of the Club Internationale d'Eperonnerie, March 2006.
