Stamped inside, at the rear, TB in a recessed rectangle, for the maker, Thomas Bamford I.

Notes

The maker, Thomas Bamford, was from Utoxeter, apprenticed to Charles Adam in 1703, and his first recorded mark was entered in 1720. His fourth mark, entered 18 July 1739, appears on these spurs, at which time he was working from Foster Lane. He was a specialist caster-maker. See A.C.
