Physical Description

Hilt: bright ferrous metal, comprising pommel, knuckle guard with integral quillon and arms, and shell guards, all chiselled with scenes from La Fontaine's Fables within frames of rococco strapwork foliage. The grip is wooden bound with wire.


Blade: lightly etched and having deep central fuller on each side inscribed as follows;
obverse: 'xx PEDRO xx DEL xx MONTE xxxxx'


reverse: 'x FECIT xx EN xx TOLEDO xxxx'
