Physical Description

Broad, leaf-shaped hollow blade. Part description only in IBE. This description is taken partly from IBE for VII.17 and partly from VII.5 to which this example is stated to be similar. Hollow blade has a short socket which extends into the head and is continued to the reinforced point as a medial rib. Socket attached to haft by 2 rivets. The mark (see below) appears above an etched (or engraved?) panel of a Tudor rose set within a truncated shield. Traces of gilding remain.
