Provenance

Purchased from the Beriah Botfield collection at Norton Hall, Northamptonshire, with the aid of the National Art Collections Fund, 1942 (Norton Hall No. 367).

Physical Description

Large fig-shaped head of sixteen flanges surmounted by a plummet-shaped finial. Hollow steel shaft, the tapering wooden grip extends throughout the length of the shaft and is reinforced at the bottom by a steel band. In the middle is a piercing for a cord.
