Physical Description

In the form of a sleeveless jacket, made in one piece. The lower edge clips down at the front and rear, and rises to the hips at either side. The side edges are fitted with vertical strips of webbing with eyelets, and are laced together. The front element has a flap over three inches deep at either side, which is overlapped by the back. At the neck is a low, upstanding collar. The jacket is fastened at the front by a webbing zip fastener and ahas a flap from the left side with five press -studs, covering the zip. The left front overlaps the right by two inches. The jacket is covered with olive green nylon and is fitted with bellow pocket, fastened by a press-stud at either side of the chest. Above each pocket is a strip of webbing for hanging up to three grenades. The ballistic nylon filling, with which the jacket is lined throughout, is composed of twelve layers of nylon cloth stitched or spot-adhered together. These are contained in a waterproof vinyl plastic envelope. The jacket is in mint, unissued condition, with a booklet, United States Natick Laboratories, use and care of your Fragmentation Protective Body armour ( Natick, Massachusetts, 1963).

At the rear, by the collar, is a label, printed size X-large, 8470-122-1302, Armor, Body, fragmentation Protective, with collar, DSA 100-69-C-1990. Hunter Outdoor Products Ltd and another label with instructions for use.
