Physical Description

With a raised neck and medial keel terminating in a point at the waist, which dips down to the centre and has a very narrow flange. The neck and arm edges are inwardly turned. Near either arm is a mushroom headed stud for fastening the shoulder straps.

Inscriptions and Marks

At the neck, stamped L for the maker. Inside, low at the right, an incised V; numbered 2 in orange paint.

Notes

This breastplate is a pair to III.2007, which is similarly marked, and retains all its original straps. The maker's mark also appears in the Littlecote series on III. 1998, 2020 and 2023. The painted 2 appears on III.1966.
