Physical Description

It has a hemispherical skull with an integral brim. It is made in two pieces, joined in a low comb. The main edge has a plain, inward turn with a sunken border once containing some nineteen lining rivets, of which seventeen survive. The comb is bordered, and the base of the skull encircled, by single incised lines. At either side of the base of the skull is a pair of rivets for the missing cheekpieces. At the rear of the skull is a plume holder. There is a pierced suspension hole at the left of the border.

Inscriptions and Marks

Very deeply struck at the left of the brim with a crowned IR for the Arsenal of James II.
