Physical Description

Very heavy, It has deep belly and a narrow flange at the waist. All the edges are plain. At either shoulder is a group of three large holes for a shoulder strap or strap and buckle. At either side of the flange is a small rivet hole, possibly for a fauld. At the centre is a proof mark. The exterior is painted black, and cleaned around the neck revealing the black from the hammer finish. At either shoulder is a large suspension hole and at either side two small ones. At the right shoulder is a brass rivet holding the end of a modern suspension bracket.
