Two-piece skull of almond shape with two sides riveted over medial ridge. The brim is turned down at the sides and drawn out to a slight V-shaped point at the front and rear. The brim has a plain inward turn which is bordered by rivets. The base of the skull has a row of round-headed rivets some with rosette-shaped external washers, two of which at either side were for the attachement of cheek-piece leathers. The helmet is painted black. It has suffered severe oxidation. A large fractured area has been repaired by riveting two plates to the inside of the skull.
