Physical Description

This piece is the breech end section of what was known as 'Baby Babylon'. The flange end would have been joined up to another flange with nuts and bolts and a gasket or 'O' ring in between. the other end, with the threads were for the attachment of the breech piece. This piece is nearly 10 metres in length. With 'Baby Babylon' totalling 46 metres it may have been made up of five pieces. At the breech end, the bore is 500 mm with the main 350 mm bore section commencing 2.5 metres from the breech end. The tube thickness here is 120 mm. The flange holds 24 bolt holes.
