Physical Description

The body is completely made of brass. This fuze was used with the 60 pounder shrapnel shell. It is a time and percussion fuze. Originally it would have had a safety pin to be removed on loading. The fuze consists of the following principal parts: the body, bottom plug, percussion holder with needle, percussion plug, percussion pellet with creep spring, detonator, screw plug, ferrule, stirrup spring and safety ball. The fuze has two time rings and a lighting pellet with detonator, the stirrup spring was of a stronger type than its predecessor the no.81.
