For the firm of R W Anderson & Sons which traded in York from 1863-2008, see Sylvia D Hogarth 'The very best of everything': R. W. Anderson and Sons, gentlemen's outfitters 1863-2008', York Historian (journal of the Yorkshire Architectural and York Archaeological Society), vol. 29, for 2012, pp. 9-20 (copies on the inv. file and in the Royal Armouries Library). IX.5510 is not mentioned in the article but Anderson's were military outfitters and their supply of a sword by to accompany a uniform for a Governor of Singapore is mentioned, and a brochure of c. 1908 for the firm of Robinson & Sons (also of York and owned by Anderson's) includes mention of 'Wilkinson & Co.'s swords' (published article p. 19 and figure 10), though IX.5510 (which dates to between 1901 and 1910) is not by Wilkinson's.
