Physical Description

The shaft has been cut from the wall of a large bamboo. The head is triangular, with a low medial ridge, hammered to form a socket at the base. The head is painted gold. Below the head is a region covered with hair tufts in red and black, forming bands of different diameters. The bands are secured by windings of twisted fibre. Above and below the grip are windings of twisted fibre and plaited rattan. The lower part of the shaft is again covered with bands of hair in a pattern or repeating black, white, black red. At the base is and iron spike.

Dimensions: The overall length of the spear is 1710 mm, the length of the head and socket is 297 mm. Weight: The weight of the spear is 0.925 kg.
