Provenance

Old Tower Collection. One of the weapons taken from the Charnock conspirators.

Physical Description

Brass barrel octagonal at the breech where it is engraved with foliage, and flaring slightly at the muzzle. There is a raised moulding cut with a sighting notch at the base of the breech. Lock with rounded lockplate and swan necked cock, engraved with scrolling foliage and with the name of the maker H.Crips. Brass mounts, the screw-plate of open scroll pattern. The ramrod with brass capped tip is preserved.
