Physical Description

This pistol is an Indian copy of a Smith & Wesson, model No.3, .38 revolver. All of the borders are wriggle-cut whilst both sides are decorated with an engraved lattice in the centre of each diamond being a deeply punched hemisphere coated with silver. At the butt is a lanyard ring.

Inscriptions and Marks

On the left of the barrel is the inscription: USO SMITH & WESSONS CARTRIDGES SPL 38 LONG. On the top of the barrel is the inscription: FOR SMITH & WESSON AMERICAN CARTRIDGES followed by a stamp in the form of a crocodile. On the right of the frame is a mark in the form of an elephant in a circle. The moulded grips have a cypher incorporating the letters I, C and A.
