Physical Description

Made from parts of a Sea Service pistol, the barrel, stamped with government proof-marks, much shortened. Lock, with flat lockplate and cock, engraved with the Royal monogram and TOWER 1736. Ring-necked cock. Flat, "tailed" brass screw-plate drilled for fixing a belt-hook. The stock has a long, sharply down curved butt and a long trigger. The tip of the trigger and the staple are missing.

The purpose for which this pistol together with XII.805 was constructed is so far unknown. This pistol and XII 805 were decribed in the 1857 Tower Roman as "Pistols, short barrelled with long curved stocks dated 1736 and 1747".
