Notes

The Second World War saw the mobilisation of large swathes of nations' industries, shifting their manufacturing to war materiel. The US was no different. In this case Remington Rand was a producer of typewriters in Syracuse NY, which changed to manufacture of M1911A1 pistols during the war.
