Physical Description

Blued overall with a one piece wooden grip. This is the martial version of the Tranter rod ejector revolver, model 1878. The frame bears an arrow over WD over I stamp and the sold out of service stamp of opposed arrows

Stamped with Birmingham proofs and the parts are stamped with the assembly no. 67. (the one on the cylinder has been overstamped with the serial no. 340.) Interior of frame stamped 306 and 340. Back strap stamped 20. Hammer, loading gate and lock cover stamped 340

This revolver entered service in 1878 and was superceded by the Webley Mk.I in 1880. It is believed that around 4,000 of these revolvers were ordered.
