Physical Description

Double side-by-side barrels with hook breeches, the blued finish partly restored. The rib is inscribed LONDON, the left barrel being stamped with London proof-marks and 'Foreigner's' mark. Gold-faced touch-holes. Lock with flat chamfered cock and lockplate, engraved with the name of the maker HADLEY. Gold lined pans.
Silver mounted stock with short fore-end. The buttplate is an open framework edging the end of the butt and connected by two star-shaped plates, engraved with foliage, for the securing screws; the finial ends in an acorn, a similar motif forming the end of the front finial of the trigger-guard. The false breech is framed in a scrolling design in engraved silver. All mounts fit flush with the woodwork. Whalebone ramrod with steel worm.
