Presented by the Wellcome Museum for the History of Medecine, no. R11129/1936, 1955. On loan L221.23 to the Horniman Museum (no. 1971.60) from 29 April 1967.

Physical Description

The head is in the form of a bird, long and curved, with a concave edge. The back curves into a squared fluke. The head is tanged and set into a short, slender haft of wood covered with a long tubular iron ferrule. Just behind the ferrule is carved an extension, and the haft waas fitted with a brass shoe (now missing).
