Physical Description

Stocked to 2.75 inches of the muzzle, the bayonet stud is beneath the barrel. There are two brass bands, top one double strap, with foresight blade on rear strap. Held in place by pinned spring in rear. Rear band has spring in front, upper swivel is riveted at the bottom. All mounts are the French pattern Lock is also of the French 1777 pattern with straight steel. Rear swivel through rear of guard strap. Identical to the cavalry carbine of the same model except the rear swivel of different form, although in the same position. Cavalry Carbine does not have spring on rear band, and probably has a sling on the left side, no bayonet stud and a straight rear band.
