Formerly part of the Renkin Collection, purchased from Leeds City Council in 1967.

Physical Description

Round barrel with bayonet stud on the underside near the muzzle. Barrel retained by three bands, the nose band being double-strapped with a brass foresight on the rear strap, and with a flared opening on the underside to accept the conical-head rammer. The middle band carries a sling swivel on the underside, and all three bands are solid and retained by spring catches. Lock in the French style with brass pan and ring-necked cock, the ring in the shape of a 'heart' with a spur in the top side. Lockplate is flat in the main with a bevelled edge, though the tail is rounded. Mounts are iron. Trigger guard with rear sling swivel mount fitted through the front tang. Rear trigger guard tang has a pair of moulded ridges to serve as finger rests. Iron buttplate. The upper portion of the left side of the buttstock has been hollowed to serve as a cheek rest.
