Physical Description

A version of Elliott's Carbine for East India Company Light Cavalry. It differs from the Government version in having a runner-bar with a bend at the rear.
Barrel stamped with the London Gunmaker's Company proof marks, maker's mark and viewer's stamps.
Lock engraved with the E.I.C badge of a lion rampant holding a crown and on the tail of the backplate with the date 1808. Butt stamped with an E.I.C store-keepers mark on the right side and on the left with the initials EB and also incised with the number XXVII. The top jaw, jaw-screw and comb of the cock are missing and also the ramrod.
