Physical Description

Stocked to the muzzle with a turned down flat pear shaped bolt. Stacking rod is situated towards the muzzle and nose cap . The rear sight graduated to 1200 metres. With provision for sling located in the centre of the butt and sling bar located on barrel band left side. This example was convertedt to accept Spitzer bullets as denoted on the breech by the letter S (Spitzner).

Notes

This was an official German designation for a carbine-length version of the Model 88 (Commission rifle). It would seem that there were 3 versions of the Model 88. This the third type with stacking rod was provided so the Artillery could stack the carbines out of the mud.
