Physical Description

Bronze barrel probably of the Armstrong-Frederick pattern with an overly large button. Comprises vent field, first reinforce, second reinforce, chase and muzzle. The vent has been drilled through to the bore. The first reinforce ring comprises an unusually large astragal and fillets. The carriage is a poor representation of a sea service carriage, believed to be in wood and ill-proportioned. For example, the trucks are over large

Inscriptions and Marks

On the right-hand cheek above the truck 'No 1' in brown/orange paint. On left-hand cheek is shown a crown above 'GR' in reference to one of the Hanoverian George's, probably George III (1760-1820)
