Physical Description

Silver hilt consisting of cap-pommel, knuckle guard and short straight quillon at the rear. Grip of rough stag antler. The silver is decorated with Tudor roses, lion's, crowns and acanthus leaves.

Short curved, single-edged blade with a false edge for the last XX in (XX cm) and two medium fullers (one at the back and one adjcent), rising by the hilt and extending (COMPL.). The blade is engraved on the forte with a design of foliage which bears traces of gilding.

Inscriptions and Marks

On knuckle-guard: maker's mark, 'W L' between two pellets (above and below) all within a shield (see sketch on inv. file).
