Physical Description

Barrel with slight flat on the upper surface at the breech where it is stamped twice with the Ordnance proof mark and with a viewer's mark. The bayonet-stud is below the muzzle. Lock with flat lockplate with slightly convex tail, convex ring-necked cock and brass pan. The lockplate is engraved with the name of the maker WILLETS.
Stock with rather small, slender butt with a depression for the cheek on the left side. Steel mounts, the barrel being secured by three bands of which the upper and lower have retaining springs. The upper band is of double form and carries the foresight as well as forming the top ramrod pipe. There is a store-keeper's stamp with the date 1800 on the butt
