Physical Description

Hilt in the form of a lower part of a stag's leg, made up from horn and hair cloth. The hoof is shod with a nickel plated shoe. There are vertically recurved quillons of the same metal. The grip accommdates a folding corkscrew.

The blade pivots on a pin in the quillon block and is held in the open position by a stud in the back of the blade engaging in a sprung socket attached to the grip. This can be raised with the thumb to fold the blade, which is straight, back-edged with a clipped point, the cutting edge running outwards, making the blade widest two thirds of the way to the point. It is of chamfered section.
