Scope and Content
On Saturday December 27th, 1941 British forces landed on the coast of Norway at Vaago and Maaloy Islands. German coast defences were silenced by British warships and bombers, and "Commandos" were landed under cover of smoke screens. Norwegian troops also took part in this operation which resulted in the destruction of 15650 tons of enemy shipping, in addition to munition dumps, oil tanks, military storehouses and a radio station. The entire German Garrison at Maaloy was killed or taken prisoner. British commandos attack under cover of a smoke screen.
