Scope and Content

At many points during the 8th Army's victorious advance through Sicily street skirmishes were the order of the day. In the outlying districts of Enna many enemy "pockets" were encountered and "mopped up". A wrecked building used by enemy troops as a strong point, was stormed by Allied Forces. A brief return of fire resulted in the surrender of the building, the occupants walking out under the white flag. Picture shows: Enemy troops surrender to 9th Army men leaving the building with hands raised. 29/7/43.
