Scope and Content

The Allies started their invasion of Sicily on July 10th. Since then they have captured ten Sicilian towns, including the important port of Syracuse, and have taken at least two thousand prisoners. These are the first pictures received of the actual landings. Picture shows: Infantry wading ashore from landing craft. Picture by radio from ALgiers; P.W.B.-O.W.I. Radio transmission from U.S. Army Signal Corps, via Cable and Wireless Ltd. 13/7/1943.
