Scope and Content

One of several targets pounded by US Eighth Air Force Flying Fortresses in Germany on Sunday, July 25th, 1943, is shown under this extremely heavy concentration of bomb bursts. Picture was taken from a fortress during the height of the attack and shows hangars, administrative buildings and an extensive cadet barracks area at Warne Munde, the German fighter training base, being bombed from nearly five miles in the air. In this same multi pronged attack the heavy bombers struck also at targets in still smouldering Hamburg, Wustrow and Kiel. Picture issued July 1943.
